Here's a United Press International story from Southern California. Moral of the story: Watch out for officers Hanna & Jacks. All you riders/drivers/everyone else in So. Cal should be extra careful.

Ride free and wear a bullet-proof vest.

12-01-99

(LOS ANGELES) -- Surviving relatives of an 18-year-old Southern California man want to know more about the gun that two police officers claim he fired at them before they shot and killed him during a traffic stop in January.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the gun -- a .45 caliber revolver -- was last registered to Wayne Simmons, who was the police chief of Ontario, Calif., for a year and a half until his death in 1988.

Prosecutors have determined that Claremont, Calif., police officers Hany Hanna and Kent Jacks were not "criminally culpable" in the shooting death of Irvin Landrum.

The officers said that when they stopped Landrum for speeding, he pulled the gun and started shooting at them.

However, the Times reports that tests conducted by the Sheriff's Department concluded that the gun had not been fired and yielded no fingerprints.
